Mike, June 6, 1966, is a date we will never forget. Our meeting on the Ċagħaq in Marsalforn Bay with AST and Peter was to set the stage for what became a regular meeting. July 7, 1977, August 8, 1988 and so on.

The discussion was always heated and always the same - first came politics, second came politics and third came politics. You also found time to fill us in about Il-Banda ta' Ħal-Lija and l-Għadqa tan-Nar. As the beers and the wine went down the discussion became hotter and you were always one of the most vociferous.

On September 9, 1999 we agreed that time was catching up with us and our reunions in Marsalforn had to become a yearly affair. Each year, come rain or shine we made it to the beach.

It was only on the September 9, 2009 that we could not meet in the usual place but we made sure to visit you in hospital with four pebbles from Marsalforn. The closest we could get to the real thing.

When we were together time stood still. It was as though we were teenagers again. Carefree and young - those were the days, and you, our dear Mike, were an essential part of them.

We will still meet in Marsalforn to drink to your memory. Sombre it will be, yet we are sure you will be with us, beer in hand, gesticulating some hot point. It will never be the same without you dear Mike.

You were unique in every way. A great husband and father. An adorable grandfather and a unique friend.

Who would have thought this time last year, when we finally managed the famous reunion tal-klikka, which resulted from a photograph taken many moons ago when you and Laura celebrated your 13th birthday, that you would be no longer with us? May you rest in peace with the knowledge that you will never be forgotten.

As a final farewell we thank you for all the memories you have forged as part of the Klikka ta' Marsalforn.

Our thoughts go to your dear Carmen, who was also part of all the above, your beloved children Andrew and Audrey, Roberta and Andrew and your adorable grandson Max.
