Fr Hermann Duncan O.Carm, Balluta, writes:

On December 13, 2018, Joseph Bonavia who hailed from Birkirkara, passed away to a better life at the venerable age of 86, at the Merciful Samaritan Home in Santa Venera.

His funeral was held at the Discalced Carmelites church in

Valley Road, Birkirkara. He was buried at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Joseph joined the Society of Christian Doctrine MUSEUM on  June 25, 1950. He used to attend the branch of MUSEUM in St Julian’s and later became superior of this same branch. He used to teach doctrine.

He was also a member of the St Mary branch in Birkirkara and recently even attended the MUSEUM in Attard.

We cannot fail to praise the long life that God blessed superior Bonavia with, enabling him to teach doctrine for more than 60 years. He was a man of conscience, devoted to the Eucharist and had a lot of devotion to Our Lady. He always carried out his duty diligently and now that he has come to rest in Christ we pray he finds peace.

We ask the Lord to grant him eternal rest and the deserved reward for being a true disciple of Saint Ġorġ Preca, as he taught Christian doctrine to so many youths and children.
