The Public Service Commission has accepted a request by the Medical Association of Malta and the Health Department to reopen a call for applications for basic specialist trainees and GP trainees in the interest of the service and for meritocracy.

In a statement the government said applicants do not need to reapply.

It said MAM and the Health Department were taking this action because they believed there should be a level playing field and equal opportunities based exclusively on merit so that patients would be guaranteed the best possible service.
