The inflation rate, the energy surcharge, the increase in the number of jobs offering bad working conditions and the standard of living of pensioners were among topics discussed at a meeting between a delegation from Alternattiva Demokratika and the leadership of the General Workers' Union led by general secretary Tony Zarb, yesterday.

AD chairman Arnold Cassola said the party will be giving serious consideration to the proposals of the GWU for the forthcoming budget and MCESD meetings.

He appealed to the GWU to help set up a Trades Unions' Council with other unions in order that workers' rights can be promoted through a collective movement.
