The 20th anniversary of Pope John Paul II's visit to the Cathedral in Victoria was commemorated with a Pontifical Mass by the Apostolic Nuncio Tommaso Caputo, together with the Cathedral Chapter and Clergy last Wednesday.

Mgr Caputo was welcomed by the Cathedral archpriest Joseph Attard, Victoria mayor Samuel Azzopardi and the president and committee members of the Leone Band near St James church, Victoria, from where he was accompanied by the Leone Band to the Cathedral.

On his way Mgr Caputo was greeted by several people, including children. He also paid a short visit to 96-year-old Ersilia Scerri.

Following Mass, Mgr Attard, on behalf of the community, presented Mgr Caputo with a silver icon of the Virgin Mary. Mgr Caputo reciprocated by placing a bunch of roses in front of the statue of Santa Marija.
