The Association des Professeurs de Francais de Malte (APFM) recently marked the first anniversary of its founding.

Despite existing for only one year it already has 100 members, and last June it joined the Commission de l'Europe de l'Ouest and the Fédération Internationale des Professeurs de Francais.

One of the association's main tasks is to hold activities related to the teaching of French and throughout last year, the APFM held meetings with teachers of French at Church and private schools, area secondaries and junior lyceums, as well as in Gozo.

The APFM website www.apf malte.com provides pedagogical resources, useful links, a forum for teachers as well as a section for students, offering interactive games, revision exercises, and songs. The association's library has the latest books about teaching French as a foreign language.

In July, it helped organise the in-service course for teachers of French. During the current scholastic year, it organised a presentation by Mary Glasgow Magazines and launched a competition 'The French room according to you'.

The association is currently preparing courses to create more awareness about the DELF and DALF qualifications in the study of French as a foreign language.
