I refer to the news item Most Africans Feel Harassed In Malta (April 23) regarding the results of a survey conducted in Malta last year by the EU's Fundamental Rights Agency. The topic of this survey was discrimination.

It was mentioned in this article that "the Imam of the Muslim mosque declined permission to interview North African residents in the mosque's precincts. The Imam resisted the study and advised North African immigrants to ignore the survey".

I would like to remark that many people thought that I was the person whom the article refers to, despite the fact that the name of this Imam was not mentioned.

I would like to clarify that I never refused to grant permission to any institution or any University researcher who wanted to conduct a survey in the mosque's premises and I never advised anybody to reject such surveys.

On the contrary, I opened the facilities of the Mosque and Mariam Al Batool School for all surveyors. I myself participated in many surveys regarding illegal immigration and discrimination.

I will remain anti-discrimination and pro-human rights.
