The annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Price Index in May was registered at 0.95%, up from 0.84% in April.

The National Statistics Office said the 12-month moving average rate for May decreased to 1.10, from 1.13 in the previous month.

The largest upward impact on annual inflation was mainly due to higher prices of restaurant services, including takeaways and cafeterias.

The largest downward impact was attributed to lower prices of garments.

The Food Index registered an overall annual inflation rate of 1.96%, of which food excluding restaurant services and takeaways registered an annual rate of 1.84%, while restaurant services and takeaways registered an annual rate of 2.26%.
