GAFFIERO. On March 23, at St Vincent de Paul residence, ERNEST FRANCIS, best known as Gaffy, of Senglea, aged 86, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Carmen, his children Graziella and her husband Andrew Manduca, Mario and his wife Benny, Pierre, Jean and his wife Lucienne, grandchildren Paul and his wife Rachel, Michela and her husband Matthew Fiorini Lowel, Shanna, Andrea, Angele, Rebecca and Katrina, his great-granddaughter Sacha, his very dear sisters Mary Pace and Josephine Leaver, his sister-in-law Marlene Copperstone, nephews, nieces, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence tomorrow at 9 a.m. for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere shall be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family wish to thank the Lourdes Ward team at St Vincent de Paul residence for the impeccable care they gave Gaffy. May God grant him eternal rest.

Spirituality and culture

A seminar on Spirituality and Culture in the Mediterranean will be held from June 20 to 25 by the University’s Faculty of Theology and the Theological Commission, in collaboration with the Malta University Holding. Money for charity

The Mission Fund thanked donors who helped raise €102,356 in aid of a new maternity wing at a hospital in Tanzania and a centre for the poor in Guatemala. Special thanks went to President George Abela and Archbishop Paul Cremona.
