VELLA. On March 20, PHILIP, of Sliema, residing at Msida, aged 63, who left this world for a better place, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his loving wife Alice, his only daughter Eileen-Marie, his friends and colleagues of the Armed Forces of Malta, his brothers and sisters and their respective families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for St Francis church, Ħamrun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares Children’s Cancer Support Group, Rainbow Ward, Mater Dei Hospital, will be appreciated. May he rest in peace for eternity.

Requiem Mass

A Mass for the repose of the soul of MICHAEL COOPER, who passed away suddenly in London on March 1, will be held today at 6.45 p.m. at Mater Boni Consigli chapel, Paceville. The attendance of relatives and friends will be greatly appreciated.

Vassallo and Salvu Corso  streets, and the government housing estate in Siġġiewi.

Teaching to transform

A three-day Conference for Catholic Educators, including two public lectures, will be held at Le Meridien St Julians from Thursday to Saturday.

Three international speakers will highlight the burning issues confronted by Catholic educators today, while a multitude of workshops will delve into a vast range of topics from the relevance of the Bible through to the role of lay educators, emotional intelligence, human sexuality, ethics in the workplace, pastoral care and much more.

The conference, which is free of charge, is being organised by the Forum for Lay Catholic Movements in collaboration with the Curriculum Management and e-learning Department within the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education, and with the Church Schools’ Secretariat.
