BALDACCHINO. On January 27, at Mater Dei Hospital, FRANCES née Cutajar, aged 77, widow of Paul, born in Gudja and residing at Sta Luċija, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Catholic church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brothers and sister James and his wife Beatrix, Joe of Australia, widower of Angie, Sunta and her husband John and Lina widow of her brother John, nieces and nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends. Mass at Sta Luċija parish church tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. No flowers by request but donations to the Hospice Movement will be greatly appreciated. Dear Lord, grant her eternal rest.

LUPI. On January 27, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALFRED, widower of Josephine née Qasha, of Swieqi, aged 85, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughters Anna and her husband Frank Azzopardi, Sandra and her husband Pierre Portelli, his sister Rina Booker and his brother Louis, his grandchildren Ryan, Jonathan, Nicholas and James, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 9 a.m. at Ibraġ parish church. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SCICLUNA. On January 26, at Capua Hospital, Sliema, JOSEPH, aged 91, ex-Member of the Royal Society of Health, ex-Chief Health Inspector, President of the then Tarxien Civic Council and ex-General Secretary of the National Association of Pensioners, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved daughter Bridget and son Albert and his dear grandchildren Alison and Elaine, their spouses, Clive Grech and Jean Louis Vella respectively, his great-grandchildren, Matthew, Luke and Elisa, his nephew Brian, his sister Lily of Canada and her family, Elina Carvajal and family in Venezuela, and friends. The funeral cortege leaves Capua Hospital, Sliema, tomorrow, at 8 a.m. for Tarxien parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Tal-Erwieħ cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to St Rita Home, Tarxien, will be greatly appreciated. Special thanks go to the consultant and all the staff, who took care of him while he was at Capua Hospital, Sliema. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord grant him eternal rest.

Requiem Masses

On the sixth anniversary of the death of Fr. CHARLES CARUANA, S.J., a Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated today at 7 p.m. at Dar Patri Manwel Magri, Msida. The attendance of relatives and friends will be greatly appreciated.

Tomorrow being the first anniversary of the death of Fr PHILIP DeMARCO, a Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated at St Julians parish church at 6.30 p.m.

A Mass will be offered today for the repose of the soul of the well-loved MURIEL GANADO, at Sarria church,Floriana at 6 p.m., on the first anniversary of her death. Always in our thoughts and prayers. Albert, Berta, Rita and Austin and grandchildren.

Power cuts

There will be power cuts in the following localities tomorrow:

Marian celebration

The Diocesan Committee of Our Lady of Fatima will be holding a Marian celebration at Id-Dar tal-Kleru, Anġlu Grima Street, Fleur-de-Lys, on February 5 starting with Mass at 4 p.m.

Thanksgiving Mass

Archbishop Paul Cremona will be celebrating thanksgiving Mass at St John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta, on Sunday at 5.30 p.m. to mark the fourth anniversary of his episcopal ordination.
