Planning revision tribunal set up

A tribunal aimed at increasing “consistency and efficiency” in the handling of environmental and planning applications has been set up.

Architect Chris Falzon has been appointed chairman of the Environment and Planning Revision Tribunal and Ramon Rossignaud and Jevon Vella are members.

The tribunal will hear development planning appeals from applicants and interested parties. It will decide on the suspension of permits in outside development zones, on scheduled property, in cases where archaeological remains are found and in cases of demolition in urban conservation areas or protected sites.

The government said this was another important step in the planning authority’s reform.
