MILLO. On November 14, at St Vincent de Paul residence, MARIA DOLORES of Ħamrun, widow of Oscar, aged 99, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Mario, Maria Edmea (May) and her husband Joseph Borg, Aldo and his wife Yvonne, née Christiano, her 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 2.30 p.m. at St Cajetan parish church, Ħamrun, followed by interment in the family vault at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal life, may she rest in peace.

PSAILA. On November 14, MARIA, née Sacco, aged 91, residing in Sliema, widow of Carmelo, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughters Louise Petre and her husband Chris, residing in the USA, and Madeleine Rossignaud and her husband Edgar, her sisters, Sister Marielouise Sacco of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Apparition, and Lydia Aquilina and her husband Edward, her nieces and nephew Mia and Rene, and their spouses, and Raisa, and her sister in law Maria Stella Psaila. The funeral leaves her residence in Sliema today at 9.15 a.m. for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

All about St Andrew

On the occasion of the 1,950th anniversary of St Andrew’s martyrdom, the Luqa parish is organising a national exhibition on St Andrew’s cult in Malta.

The exhibition, being held at the pastoral centre’s chapel in Dokkiena Street, will open on Friday accompanied by a public lecture by Antonio Espinosa Rodriquez.

The exhibition includes numerous works of art and objects which portray the Maltese devotion towards St Andrew, including lifesize and miniature statues, paintings which include one by Mattia Preti and another by Giuseppe Calì, Maltese silver, historical photographs and antique engravings.

The exhibition runs until November 28, and is open from Monday to Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Entrance is free.

Talk on shipwrecks

Timmy Gambin, Director (Archaeology) – Aurora Trust will be delivering a lecture entitled Deep Water Archaeology in Sicily: The Recent Discovery Of Shipwrecks off The Aeolian Islands, tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage 173, St Christopher Street, Valletta. The talk is being held in conjunction with the Archaeological Society Malta.
