CARUANA. On April 24, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH, aged 55 of Birkirkara, ex-manager of Marsa Shipbuilding and ex-director at the ADT, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Josephine, his children Roberta and her boyfriend Christian, Nicholas, Joseph and his girlfriend Malgorzata, his in-laws, their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Thursday at 1.30 p.m. for St Francis church in Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. No flowers by request but donations in support of philanthropic projects by the Lions Club will be greatly appreciated. CASSAR. On April 25, one day short of her 81st birthday, at her residence in St Julians, MARY, née Scicluna, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Josephine, Rosemarie Garzia, widow of Carmelo, Fr Julian of Oregon, USA, Paul and his wife Kay, Marcel and his wife Maria, her two grandsons Julian and Peter, her brothers and sister, Anthony P., Charles and his wife Doris, Maggie and her husband Iain Richmond, Marcel and his wife Julie, and Josephine, widow of her late brother Joseph, her sister-in-law Concetta Micallef, many relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.45 a.m. for St Julians parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 9.15 a.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolortata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Monastery of the Poor Clares, St Julians and the Hospice Movement, will be greatly appreciated. Lord grant her eternal rest for a life of devotion and dedication to her family.

D'AMATO. On April 24, Sr THERESE, went to meet the risen Lord comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her sad loss the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition, her cousins, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 7.30 a.m. for St Joseph parish church, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. ZAMMIT. On April 25, PAWLU, aged 77, of Dingli, passed away peacefully at his home, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Maria, his daughters Connie and her husband Marco Scicluna, Tania and her husband Mario Borg, Joan, Monica and her husband Norbert Fenech, his grandchildren Clint, Rodney, Gabriel and his girlfriend Jessica Gauci, Abigail, Maria and Owen, his siblings Wiġi, Karmenu and his wife Żarena, Joe and his wife Matty, resident in Canada, Maria and her husband Joe Farrugia, Żaren, widower of his sister Rita, his wife's relatives, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.45 p.m. for Dingli parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.15 p.m., followed by interment at Dingli parish cemetery. The family advises it will not be receiving people at home after the funeral.

Musico-literary evening

The St Bartholomew Philharmonic Society of Għargħur will hold a musico-literary evening at St Bartholomew parish church, Għargħur tomorrow at 7.15 p.m. The event is being held to mark the band's 25th anniversary.

Fundraising car wash

Living Ability Not Disability will be holding a fundraising car wash at the Aviation Museum in Ta' Qali on May 9.

The money raised will go towards funding specialised transport, which costs about €8,000 annually, most of the group's members being wheelchair users.

Visitors will be able to get their car washed between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. while admiring the museum's exhibits. Food stands will be available.
