BRIFFA. On March 23, at Mater Dei Hospital, Sr ROBERTA of the Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus, aged 83, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss, her brothers and sisters, Angelo, Sister Aniceta, Franciscan Sister of the Heart of Jesus, Emmanuela, Tessie, Victoria, widow of Luigi Bergonzi, Constantino and his wife Antoinette, her nieces Deborah and her husband Roberto Acerbi, Lara and her husband Fabrizio Orsi, Maria and her husband Duncan Borg Myatt, the Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital, today at 1.45 p.m. for St Francis church, Ħriereb Street, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

PIRRONE. On March 23, Chev. UMBERTO of Gżira, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Teresa and her husband George, Carmen and her husband Charles, Silvana and her husband Raymond, his grandchildren, his in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. SCHRANZ. On March 23, Fr JOHN SCHRANZ, OFM, aged 88, former missionary in Honduras, passed away peacefully at Zammit Clapp Hospital, surrounded by his family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brother friars of the Maltese Franciscan Province of St Paul the Apostle, his brother Carmel and his wife Marie of USA, his sister-in-law Mary, widow of his brother Charles, also of USA, his nephews and nieces, their respective wives and husbands, great-nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital tomorrow at 7.30 a.m. for the Franciscan Friary in Carmel Street, Sliema, from where at 9.20 a.m. the funeral will proceed to Sacro Cuor parish, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment in the Franciscan Chapel at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Kleru, Birkirkara, will be greatly appreciated.

Requiem Mass

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the passing away of Fr JOSEPH M. GALDES, SJ, the 9.30 a.m. Mass in English said on March 28 at St Aloysius College church, Birkirkara, will be offered in thanksgiving for his life. The attendance of relatives and friends will be greatly appreciated.

Sacred art display

The Sliema Philharmonic Society and the Sacro Cuor Feast Commission have put on a display of sacred art at the Sliema Band Club, 34, St Trophimus Street. The exhibition runs from tomorrow until Good Friday.

The opening times are: Weekdays from 5.30 to 9 p.m.; Palm Sunday and March 31 from 8 a.m. to noon and from 5.30 to 9 p.m.; Maundy Thursday from 5.30 to 11.30 p.m.; and on Good Friday from 8 a.m. till noon.

Power cuts

There will be power cuts in the following localities tomorrow:

From 8 a.m. to noon in parts of Kaffis and Ġiżi streets, and Margeritas, Tari, Fjorin and Ortensja streets in Ibraġġ/Swieqi.

From 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. in parts of Tumas Dingli, Ta' Mellu and San Silvestru streets, Independence Avenue and the surrounding area in Mosta.

From 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. in parts of San Ġorġ, Emm. Pinto and De Redin streets in St Paul's Bay.

24-hour rosary

A 24-hour rosary chain will start on Saturday at 8 p.m. and runs until Sunday at 8 p.m. at Borġ in-Nadur, Birżebbuġa. Contemplated rosaries will be held every 30 minutes, with intentions offered for the conversion of the world, peace, holiness of priests and families.
