Obituary
BALDACCHINO. On January 6, at Mater Dei Hospital, LOUIS (Wiġi), aged 92, of Naxxar, residing in Sliema, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Marianne, Raymond and his wife Valerie, Frances and her husband Joseph Scerri, Carmen and her husband Frank Stafrace, Grace and her husband Giovanni Consoli, his precious grandchildren and their families, his beloved great-grandchildren, other relatives in Malta, Australia, Italy and the UK, and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for St Gregory parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Naxxar cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Moviment Missjunarju Ġesù fil-Proxxmu, Gozo, and Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
GILI. On January 9, at St Vincent de Paule, MARIA, at the venerable age of 102, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her nephew Edgar and his wife Connie, her nieces Simone, Nadya, and Marie and her husband Angelo Agius, and their respective families. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest. SHEARS. On January 3, in New Zealand, EILEEN, née Gollcher. She leaves to mourn her loss her sisters Patsy Findlay and Lorna Axworthy in the UK, together with the Gollcher and Mattei families in Malta. May she rest in peace.
WIRTH. On January 9, EDWARD, widower of Dorotea Romelli, aged 88, of St Julian's, passed peacefully away at Mater Dei Hospital comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his only son Gabriel and his wife Caroline, his grandchildren Elena and Nicholas, his brother Lewis, sisters-in-law Mollie and Connie, nephews and nieces, his many cousins, other relatives, especially Lillian Miller and her family, and his numerous friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for the Carmelite church, Balluta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery.
