LEONE-GANADO. On December 18, at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, JOSETTE, aged 51, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her dearly beloved husband Philip P., her most precious children, Alexia (Rossi) and her boyfriend Julian, Philip A. and his girlfriend Anna Maria, Chiara and Kristina, her parents Joseph F. and Violet Depares, her in-laws Prof. Albert and his wife Eileen, Godfrey and his wife Cecilia, Joe and his wife Helene, David, Miriam and her husband Adrian Fenech, her uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces, cousins, relatives, Lina Cachia , friends and the members of the Marana Tha' Community. The funeral leaves Boffa Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for St Julians parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere celebrating her new life in Christ will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery (entrance through top gate). LIVORI. On December 20, Raymond, of Żabbar, aged 54, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Kathleen, his children Karen and Brian, his mother Mary, his brothers and sisters and their families, his in-laws and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 7.15 a.m. for Our Lady of Victory parish church, Naxxar, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 7.45 a.m. followed by internment at the Naxxar cemetery. On December 19, Sr MARIE, Sister of St Dorothy, aged 86, passed away peacefully and went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, after years of suffering borne with great Christian spirit. She leaves to mourn her sad loss the Congregation of the Sisters of St Dorothy, her sisters Gladys and her husband Neville Collins, Josephine, widow of Gaetan Briffa, Carmen and her husband Godfrey Dingli, her nephews and nieces and her grand nephews and grand nieces. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8.15 a.m. for St Gregory parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.45 a.m. followed by interment at St Andrew's Cemetery, Żebbuġ.

Postal services

Maltapost said that, by agreement with the Malta Communications Authority, collection from all letter boxes would take place at 2 p.m. on December 24.

All Maltapost branches will be closed on December 26 and reopen on December 28.

Maltapost also said that on December 24 and 31 the St Julians branch, situated within Lombard Bank in Paceville Street, would be open between 8.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.

The closest alternatives are SPO Golosa in 146, Swieqi Road, Swieqi; Maltapost branch at 95, Naxxar Road, San Ġwann and the Maltapost branch in 118, Manwel Dimech Street, Sliema.

Card Party

Late applications

Late applications for the Matriculation certificate examination and advanced and intermediate level single subject examination for the May 2010 exam session will be accepted between January 6 and 8 at the Examinations Department in Floriana. Gozitan candidates are to submit their applications at the Examinations Centre in Victoria.

The University of Malta said that applications after such dates would not be accepted under any circumstances. Candidates have to pay an extra €46.59 on top of normal registration fees.

The Director of Examinations said that the timetables for the AQA and Edexcel London January 2010 examinations have been sent to the candidates concerned. Those candidates who have not received their timetables can contact the Department of Examinations, Floriana, on 2598 2207/8.

Blessing of Pregnant Mothers

The parish of Marsascala will hold its quarterly Mass and blessings for pregnant mothers and their unborn children on Sunday at 10.15 a.m. at the parish church. Fathers, relatives and the public are invited.
