Obituary
FRENDO. On July 16, MARIA DOLORES née Caruana, of Naxxar, aged 59, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Joe, her son Claude and his partner Bethany Cassar, her sister Josephine and her husband Edwin Catania, her brother Philip Caruana and his wife Antoinette, her sister-in-law Suor Mary of the Ursoline Sisters, Mona, Marylou and her husband Franco Tiveron, her nieces Amanda, Maria and Luca, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for the Santa Maria Addolorata chapel where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Ursoline Sisters will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Swimming challenge
Birkirkara St Joseph Sports Club will be holding its annual charity event Gozo-Malta Open Water Swim Challenge in aid of Inspire on August 22.
Participants will swim a 5.5-kilometre distance from Hondoq ir-Rummien to Marfa with the support of a dedicated and experienced team. Safety measures will be in place.
Inspire's aim is to promote healthy living among the community through sports activities and further enhance the quality of life of thousands of disabled people.

Lunar landing
The International Year of Astronomy Committee, together with the American Embassy and the St James Centre for Creativity, will screen two documentaries on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. to mark the 40th anniversary since the first landing on the moon. The films will be shown at St James Cavalier, Castille Place, Valletta.
