AXISA. On June 3, ARIADNE, née Cachia, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rights of Holy Church, at the age of 89. She leaves to mourn her great loss her children Gerald and Maryanne, Marguerite Portelli, John and Jay, Peter and Marica, her beloved grandchildren Johanna and Eric, Karen, Edward and Diane, Andrew and Debbie, Simon and Vanessa, Michael and Agnieszka, Michelle and Simon, Tanya, Sandra, Kristina and her adored great grandchildren Jessica, Kenneth, Rory, Thomas, Louisa, Matthew, Andrea, Timmy, Kaya, Mila, Miguel and Pedro, her sister Arthemis De Maria, sister-in-law Marie Cachia, her devoted carer Usha, her nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St James Capua on Saturday for Jesus of Nazareth church where Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Adolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares will be appreciated.

Concert at St John's Co-Cathedral

Soprano Joan Mangion will feature in a concert organised by the St John's Co-Cathedral Chapter and the St John's Co-Cathedral Foundation together with the Bel Canto Choir at the co-cathedral in Valletta tonight at 7.30 p.m.

The concert will be conducted by Hermann Farrugia Frantz.

The bill includes Music For A White Dove, composed by Joseph Vella specifically for the late Pope John Paul II, and the Oratorio Sacro Appostolo delle Genti, written by Mario Frisina, Chapel Master of the Lateran Chapel, Rome. All proceeds are in aid of Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi.

Art talk

Artist Pierre Portelli will discuss a painting of his choice during an art and wine event on Wednesday at 6.30 p.m. at the National Museum of Fine Arts, Valletta, organised by Heritage Malta.
