FARRUGIA. On April 15, at Mater Dei Hospital, RITA née Grech of Mellieħa, formerly of Żebbuġ, aged 55, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss, her beloved Mario, her son Walter-Anthony, her parents Salvu and Kitty, her brothers and sisters Dennis and his wife Josette, Mario and his wife Rose, Josette and her husband Martin Calleja, Marthese and her husband Joe Mallia, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends especially her colleagues at work. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Philip's parish church, Żebbuġ where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at the Mellieħa cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Malta Hospice Movement will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

GATT. On April 15, JOSEPH ANTHONY, aged 80, passed away peacefully at his son's residence in San Ġwann comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his sad loss, his wife Marie née Agius, his daughters, Frances (Ċikki) and her husband Edward Tabone Ferrante, Christine and her husband Leo J. Saidnawey,Theresa and her partner Timmy Zammit, Alice and her husband Giancarlo R. Tolu and his son Denis and his wife Audrey, his grandchildren Andy, Matthew, Ryan, Alan, Emily, Cristina, Philip, James, Romina, Luisa, Zach, Peter, Sophie, Simon and great-grandchildren Jamie Kay and Toby Joseph, his sister Marie Therese Camilleri, his sister-in-law Mabel widow of his brother Peter, his wife's family, Amber Jones, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at Our Lady of the Annunciation church, Balzan at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to the Malta Hospice Movement will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GIALANZÉ. Suddenly on April 14, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARK, aged 40, son of the late Joe passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss, his wife Roberta née Attard, his adored sons Isaac and Timothy, his mother Maria, his sister Erika, his in-laws Ninnia and John Attard and family, uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. Mass, praesente cadavere will be concelebrated today at 2 p.m. at St Julians parish church, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi and Caritas Malta will be greatly appreciated. GRECH. On April 14, at Zammit Clapp Hospital, GAETANO, of Lija, aged 78, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss, his beloved wife, Nicolina, his children Jessie, Sammie, Marion, John, Edwin and Eileen and their families, together with nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital today at 8 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at Our Saviour parish church, Lija at 8.30 a.m. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi will be greatly appreciated.

XUEREB. On April 8 and April 11 respectively, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, HELEN née Mifsud Bonnici, aged 93, and VICTOR M., aged 86, Lieutenant Grandmaster Emeritus of the Order of St John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church within three days of each other after a splendid 63-year marriage. This wonderful and exemplary couple leave to mourn their loss, their beloved children Maphine and her husband Karl Despott, Walter and his wife Kathleen née Vella Zarb, and Anne Marie and Pierre Vella Petroni, their grandchildren Edward, Maria Elena, Daniela and her husband Ryan Scicluna, Matthew and his wife Ann Marie, Lisa and her fiancé Emmanuel Francalanza, and Tara Ann, their precious great-grandchildren Kyle and Martina, their sister and sisters-in-law Laura Azzoaprdi née Xuereb, Antie Mifsud Bonnici and Ineż Mifsud Bonnici, nephews and nieces, many relatives and friends. Lord, grant them eternal rest. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence, where they spent the last 15 months of their lives together, tomorrow at 2 p.m. for the St Theresa Sanctuary, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. No flowers by request, but donations to the Dar tal-Providenza would be greatly appreciated. Special thanks to the extremely dedicated staff at St Joseph Ward 11 for their love and care towards whom they used to consider their adoptive parents.

Meet the artists

Art enthusiasts will be able to meet local artists in an informal atmosphere during a series of events being organised by Heritage Malta at the National Museum of Fine Arts in South Street, Valletta.

The first in the series will be held on Wednesday at 6.30 p.m., during which artist Madeleine Gera will be discussing a painting of her choice with television presenter Lou Bondì.

Entrance is against a donation.

Concert for Europe

The Sliema Philharmonic Society will be holding the annual Concert for Europe at the Sir Temi Zammit Auditorium, the University, Msida, tomorrow. Tenor Andrea Cesare Coronella and soprano Giuseppina Chirizzi will be the leading singers.

The band will be conducted by Ronnie Debattista. Joseph Sammut will be the guest conductor presenting his own work, Overture Op. 50 L-Assedju l-Kbir ta' Malta.
