BARTOLO. On March 30, CONCETTA, née PULIS, aged 93, of Gżira, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her sad loss her sons Tony, Charles and Martin, her daughters Doris Magro, Josephine Bezzina, Marthese Attard and Kathryn Fenech Soler, their wives and husbands, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. CASSAR. On March 31, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH k/a Il-Patakkus, of Tarxien, aged 50, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Doris, his daughter Eliza and her husband Ramon, his son Carl, his mother Beffie, his father-in-law Ġużeppi, his brother and his sisters, in-laws and their respective spouses, nephews and nieces, all their families, relatives and friends. VELLA. On March 30, at Karin Grech Hospital, JOSEPH, aged 79, ex Cable & Wireless, of St Julians, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Lisa and Patrick and their respective families, his grandchildren Timmy, Suzy, Sophie and Julia, his sister Doris, other relatives and friends. Engineering conference

The 18th National Annual Engineering Conference, Fuelling The Future, organised by the Chamber of Engineers, will be held on April 16 at the Hilton Hotel Malta. The impact energy has on the environment and the cost of conventional energy and renewables are the key problems that inspired this year's choice of theme.

What's Left?

The GWU Youths will be holding a one-day seminar, themed What's Left, discussing the left-wing ideology and its application in Malta, the EU and beyond at the Workers' Memorial Building, Valletta, on April 11, from 8.30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The seminar will include presentations and speeches by different youth organisations, political parties, the GWU and academics. It is open to the public and is free of charge.

Summer school

A group of volunteers will be holding a summer school in collaboration with the sisters of Mother Teresa in a depressed area in Naples between July 3 and 24 and from August 2 to 16. Sixty children are expected to attend the summer school. Applicants are required to participate in the preparatory sessions prior to the departure date.

The Chapel of the Annunciation at Ħal Millieri will be opened to the public on Sunday. To get to the chapel, either take the first right-hand turn after the roundabout at Blue Grotto Avenue in Żurrieq or drive down Diamond Jubilee Square on the Mqabba bypass.

Main Guard talk

Adrian Strickland, who is passionate about insignia, will share his findings of a study he made of the Main Guard in Valletta on April 16 at Din L-Art Ħelwa's offices in 133, Melita Street, Valletta. The audience should be seated by 5.45 p.m.
