Marriages

Mr JOSEPH ABELA and Miss ILONA GRECH
The marriage took place on October 11, at St Paul Shipwrecked parish church, St Paul's Bay, between JOSEPH, son of Mr and Mrs Mario Abela of Żejtun, and ILONA, daughter of Mr and Mrs Leo Grech of St Paul's Bay. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Fr Anthony Abela, Fr Michael Agius, Fr Joseph Mamo and Fr Marius Galea. The ceremony was witnessed by Stephen Cremona, the bride's uncle, and Rosann Mifsud, the groom's sister. The duties of best men were carried out by James Gatt and Karl Cremona. The bride was attended by Stephanie Cremona as maid of honour. Talia and Lucas Debono, Leone Mifsud and Ranken Abela were flower-girls and pageboys, while Rocco Buhagiar acted as usher. A reception was afterwards held at the Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort and Spa. The couple are spending their honeymoon in South Africa.

Obituary

AGIUS. On October 25, at Wexford Retirement Home, Toronto, EDITH MARY, née Gregory, in her 87th year, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She is survived by her daughters Geraldine and Anthony, Doris and Peter, Antoinette and Robert, Lucienne and Robert, her grandson Michael and Cathy and her great-grandchildren Laura and Philip, and her grand-daughters Adrienne, Sarah and Ruth. Predeceased by her brother Joseph Gregory, his spouse Carrie and nieces Phyllis and Roxanne and other relatives and friends. Cremation was held in Toronto on October 28. A Mass for the repose of her soul will be said tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema. For her final journey Edith's ashes will be interred with her parents at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

BORG BARTOLO. On November 7, at Zammit Clapp Hospital, EDWARD, aged 82, founder and former director of EJV Borg Bros of Marsa, devoted husband of Connie née Portelli, passed peacefully away in his sleep to meet the Risen Lord Jesus. Deeply mourned by his wife Connie, his children Ramon and his wife Simone, Peter and his wife Laura, and Claire and her husband Mark Schembri, his grandchildren James, David, Hena-Marie, Simon, Harriet, Deborah, Audrey and Phoebe, his brothers and sisters, in-laws, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for St Mary's parish church, Birkirkara (Knisja Qadima), where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Sacred Heart of Jesus, grant him eternal rest.

GRECH. On November 6, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMELO (Charles) of Birkirkara, aged 87, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his sad loss, his beloved wife Maria, his only son Mario and his wife Pat, his much loved grandchildren David, Alexea and her husband Alastair, his brother Manuel and his wife Maria, his sister Vitorin, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. for St Helen's Basilica, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. SALIBA. On November 8, at Mater Dei Hospital, Canon Primicerius MICHAEL SALIBA, aged 87, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brother Paul and his wife Miranda, his sisters Lucia, Jessie and Doris Attard, his nephews and nieces, among whom Fr Paul Attard, OFM, Sr Damiana Micallef, OSA and Sr Pauline Micallef, OSA, the Reverend Clergy of the Collegiate Chapter of St Paul, Rabat, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. for St Augustine's church, Rabat where he will lie exposed from 9 a.m. to noon for those wishing to pay their last respects. At 3.30 p.m. the funeral leaves St Augustine's church for St Paul's Collegiate Church, where concelebrated Mass will be said praesente cadavere at 3.45 p.m. followed by interment at St Margaret cemetery, Rabat.
