Voluntary Sector Council

The Minister for Social Policy, John Dalli has appointed a Council for the Voluntary Sector with Robert Farrugia as chairman.

The council was appointed in accordance with the Voluntary Organisations Act for the next two years.

The purpose of the council is to provide a forum for the voluntary sector and a platform from which to develop cooperation between voluntary organisations and between them and the government.

Kenneth Wain is Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations.

Roadworks in Msida

Trenching works will be carried out along Triq Marina, Msida, from the corner with Triq d'Argens up to ix-Xatt ta' Ta' Xbiex, from Monday until further notice.

Works will be carried out in 1.5 kilometre sections and parking will not be permitted along both sides of the section.

The road will, however, remain open to traffic at all times.

Anniversary concert

The King George V Band will be marking the 10th anniversary since being awarded Les Etoile D'Or Du Jumellage or the Golden Star for Twinning by the European Union with a concert at the Mqabba primary school on November 15 at 7.30 p.m.

Lecture on St Augustine

Robert Dodaro, rector of the Augustinian University, Rome will deliver a lecture on St Augustine's political ethics at the University of Malta on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Literary evening

Ilħna Poeżija will be holding a literary evening at the Żejtun local council's offices on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
