FARRUGIA. On February 15, TESSIE, of Sta Venera, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital, aged 79, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Paul, her two daughters Josette, and her husband Albert Sammut, and Jackie, and her partner Kim, her grandchildren Justin and Rebecca, her sister-in-law Mary, widow of her brother Joe, her husband's brother and sister Joe and Phyllis, their respective families, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9.45 a.m. for the Carmelite parish church, Sta Venera, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 10 a.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Hospice Movement will be appreciated.

LAURENTI. On February 13, in Rome, a few days short of her 93rd year, CARMELINA, née Cirigottis, widow of Austin, comforted by the Holy Rites of Mother Church. She is mourned by her children Robert and his wife Violet, Rosalie and her husband Richard, Joe and his wife Pat and Fr Mario Laurenti, her grandchildren Anna, Vanni and his wife Sue, Carlo and his wife Daniela, Lynnette and her husband Iain, Mark and his wife Caroline, her seven great-grandchildren, her sisters Nina Psaila and Sylvia Shami, her brother Spiro and his wife Mary, her sisters-in-law Josephine Von Brockdorff and May Cirigottis, her brother-in-law Francis Laurenti and his wife Mary, besides numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated on February 19 at 8.45 a.m. at St Gregory's parish church, Sliema, followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations to the Ursuline Crèche, Sliema, will be appreciated.

MAGRI. On February 14, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMELO of Luqa (honorary member, ex-band player and licensee of the fireworks factory of St Andrew's Band Club, Luqa), aged 71. He leaves to mourn his loss his sisters and brothers, Joyce and her husband Mark, Luigia and her husband Bert, Anthony and his wife Theresa, Thomas and his wife Rita, Maria and her husband John, Ċettina and her husband Joe, Andreana and her husband Joe, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.30 p.m. for St Andrew's parish church, Luqa, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m. The St Andrew's Band accompanies the funeral to Luqa cemetery where interment takes place in the family grave. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated.

She leaves to mourn her loss her children Maria and her husband Paul Balzan, Carmen and her husband Alfred Bonnici, Kate and her husband Victor Zammit, Josephine and her husband Joe Demicoli, David and his wife Marienne, and Paul and his wife Rita, her sisters and brother, Sister Aristea Cauchi, Lucy, widow of Walter, Paula, widow of Joseph, Fermina and her husband Ġużi, Tuse and his wife Katie, Elizabeth, widow of Frans, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital today at 3 p.m. for St Philip's parish church, Żebbuġ, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Żebbuġ. No flowers by request but donations to Villa Mgr Gonzi, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated.

Skolasport basketball sessions

Skolasport will be holding basketball sessions at the outdoor facilities of the Marsa Sports Complex between 9 and 10.30 a.m. today.

Participants will be split into groups according to age and ability. The basketball basics including passing, dribbling and shooting will be introduced and practised. Advanced basketball players will do more intriguing and creative work. Sessions will be rounded off with game time offering players an opportunity to apply and strengthen their technique and experience.

Swimming marathon

St Patrick's Rotaract Malta La Valletta will be holding a fund-raising swimming marathon in aid of its Launching Pad project, aimed at helping those moving out of institutional care. The marathon will be held today in the spa of the Living Well Health Club at the Hilton, Portomaso between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Requiem Mass

A requiem Mass will be said at St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta today at 5.30 p.m. in remembrance of Andrew Bertie, Grandmaster of the Sovereign Military and Hospital Order of St John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta who died last Thursday.
