Obituary

BONELLO. On November 25, at Materi Dei Hospital, CARMELA, aged 94, widow of Carmelo, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Pauline and her husband Benny Micallef, Joe and his wife Rose, Charles and his wife Marthese, Mary and her husband Francis Mifsud, Fr James mssp, Fr Gerard mssp, her brothers Frank Dimech, Emanuel Dimech and his wife Anne both residing in Australia and their respective families, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3.30 p.m. for St Paul's collegiate parish church, Rabat, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at the Rabat cemetery. No flowers by request but donations for vocations to the Missionary Society of St Paul will be greatly appreciated.
The family wish to thank all the staff at the Holy Family Home, Naxxar, for their attention, care and dedication during her long stay there. Lord grant her eternal rest.

BORG. ROBERT, aged 97, died peacefully on November 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, comforted by the rites of Holy Mother Church.
Beloved husband of the late Carmen and revered father of Nancy, wife of the late Judge Prof. Wallace Gulia, Marcelle, wife of the late Major Eric Busuttil, Marlen and her husband Paul Micallef, Elspeth and her husband perit Tony Muscat, Maris Zammit, Alfred Zammit and his only son Prof. Robert M. Borg; loving grandfather of Myra, Gabrielle, Cindy, Bill, Ronnie, Paul, Marcelle, Sandra, Duncan, Keith and Michael; and a much revered great grandfather of 16 children.
He also leaves to mourn his loss his brother Dr Francis X. Borg in Canada, his sister Mary Joslin and Denise, wife of his late brother Dr Paul Borg, other relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for the Carmelite church in Balluta, St Julians, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addoloarata Cemetery.

CARUANA MONTALDO - EDGAR, aged 80, passed away suddenly on November 25, surrounded by his family, at Mater Dei Hospital, a dearly beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Nuala, his children Mairead and her husband Paul Gauci, Ann, Patricia and her husband Edwin Mintoff, Kevin and his wife Angie, Brendan and his wife Kathryn, Maureen and her husband Julian Curmi, Edgar and his wife Christine, Eileen and her husband Dorian Schembri; his grandchildren Malcolm, Ian, Lesley Ann, Miguel, Andrew, Ben, Liam, Lara, Matthew, Edgar Sean, Robin and Sean, his brothers Joseph, Walter and Oscar, his sisters Mary and Antoinette and in-laws in Ireland.
The funeral will take place tomorrow at St Julians parish  church at 1.30 p.m., followed by a private burial. May God grant him eternal rest and we now entrust him to the care of Padre Pio to whom he had such a great devotion. No flowers by request but donations to the Mission Office, Capuchin Friary, Floriana, would be appreciated.

SANT. On November 25, at her residence in Tal-Virtù, Rabat, JOSEPHINE, widow of Vincent, aged 74, passed away suddenly. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Suzanne and her husband Josie Stafrace, Audrey, and Vincent and his wife Bernice, her grandchildren Shayelle and Aidan, her sisters Carmen, widow of Vincent Portelli, and Miriam, wife of Paul Vassallo Agius, in-laws and friends.

Photography Course

The next Starting Photography course organised by the Malta Photographic Society will be held at the society's premises at 137, Old Bakery Street, Valletta starting on January 29 at 6 p.m.

The course consists of 10 consecutive illustrated lectures in Maltese delivered by some of the society's most experienced members.

The course covers most of the aspects of analogue photography, including the History of Photography, Cameras (including digital), Camera Controls, Aperture, Shutter Speeds, Depth of Field, Natural and Artificial Light, Subject Matter and Composition, Accessories and Common Faults.

The course fee is Lm25 (€60) which includes all the required notes (in English) on CD.

Only a basic camera is required for the course to enable participants to carry out an assignment.

MKSU Achievement

The Moviment Kattoliku Studenti Universitarji (MKSU) has been elected to form part of the European team of JECI-MIEC, a platform for European Catholic student organisations.

The European Team is this network's administrative body and is composed of three elected movements. Together with MKSU, Romanian organisation ASTRU and French JEC-FRANCE now form part of the newly elected team.

MKSU shall be represented on the team by René A. Cilia, a former president of MKSU.

MKSU, the University Students' Catholic Movement, aims to promote Christian values through social commitment.

EU Maritime Policy Seminar

A two-day seminar on The Evolving EU Maritime Policy And The Proposed Action Plan - A Vision For An Integrated Maritime Policy For The EU And Neighbouring States, is being organised by the IOI-Malta Operational Centre of the University of Malta, with the support of the EC Task Team on the Green Paper On Maritime Policy.

Christmas Music

Course In Translation, Interpretation

The Department of French at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School Naxxar is offering a translation/interpretation course in English-French-English and Maltese-French-Maltese.

The course starts in December and ends in May, taking place on Fridays from 3.15 to 5.15 p.m.

Fund Fest For Ursuline Home

A Fund Fest 2007 - a fund raising activity for families - is being organised at the grounds of the Ursuline Sisters' Home for Children at Guardamangia (opposite PBS television station) on December 22 and 23 is aid of the home.

The activities include a vintage car show, a car-wash, a display by the Malta Police Force, a bazaar and entertainment.

Concert Of Carols

The Ballutta Ghaqda Armar tal-Festa, Madonna tal-Karmnu and the Carmelite Friars Community of the Balluta parish will hold a Christmas carols concert on December 14 at 7.30 p.m. at the parish church, Madonna tal-Karmnu, Balluta.

Admittance is free but guests are asked to be seated at 7.15 p.m. Donations will be accepted at the exit doors.

Remembrance Service

The 3/11 Regiment Royal Malta Artillery (Territorial) Association will be holding its Annual Remembrance Service at the Church of Our Lady of Victories, Castille Place, Valletta on November 30 at 6.30 p.m. Members and their wives, widows of deceased members and friends are invited to attend.

Arts And Crafts On Display

Students of the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce will be putting art and crafts on display at Palazzo de La Salle in Republic Street, Valletta from December 5 to 15.

The exhibits will include detailed work in ganuttel, filigree, embroidery and embroidery in gold as well as works in beading, crochet, cottage craft, Malta lace, glass painting and parchment craft.

Other work will include needle handcrafts and tailoring, flower arrangements and woodcarving, stone sculptures, gilding and cribs.

Art students will also be exhibiting a number of their works which are painted in various media. Arts and crafts by the younger students of the society will also be on display.

The exhibition will be open Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and 4.30 to 7 p.m. and between 9.30 a.m. and noon on Saturdays. Entrance is free.

The exhibition will also be open on Republic Day, December 13, between 10 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. during an Open Day.

Christmas Bazaar

A Christmas bazaar is being organised by the Committee of the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, Gwardamangia/Pieta. It will be held at the Centru Parrokjali and will be open until December 13 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day. The bazaar includes toys, plants, Christmas decorations and cards, clothes, kitchen utensils, food, chocolates, alcoholic beverages and various other items. Everything is new but will be sold at bargain prices.

AGM Of Adlerian Association

The Malta Adlerian Psychology Association (MAPA)'s annual general meeting will be held today at 6 p.m. at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana. Joyce Callus will be leading a short discussion on Birth Order as an introduction to the meeting.
