Diamond Wedding

The marriage took place on February 1, 1959, at St Anne’s Chapel, Fort St Elmo, between Lieutenant RAPHAEL J. CAMILLERI, RMA, and Miss VIRGINIA MARIA CAMILLERI (known as Gussy), followed by a reception at the Officer’s Mess upstairs. The duties of best man were carried out by Lieutenant Arthur Gera, RMA.

Obituaries

BUTTIGIEG. On January 27, JOSEPH A. of South Bend, Indiana, USA, aged 71, passed away peacefully. He will be greatly missed by his wife J. Anne Montgomery, his son Peter and husband Chasten, his siblings Marcette, Grace, Marika, Franco and his wife Nancy, John and his wife Kay, Myriam, Lucienne and partner Vanda, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. A private funeral has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

CASSAR TORREGGIANI. On January 26, at his home in Wicklow, Ireland, Chev. Dr FERDINAND CASSAR TORREGGIANI, aged 83, after a long illness borne with Christian fortitude and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. A much-loved husband, father, grandfather and doctor, he leaves to mourn his loss his dedicated and loving wife Ann, his children Suzanne and Fergus, William and Martina, Francesca, Justine and Adrian, his six grandchildren, his brothers in Malta and their respective families and his sister-in-law Margaret and her family. The funeral took place in Tinaheley, Co.Wicklow. A Mass of thanksgiving will take place in Malta at a later date. Eternal Father, keep him in Your loving arms.

FORMOSA. On January 30, at Karin Grech Hospital, VICTOR, passed away peacefully at the age of 92. He will always be loved and remembered by his wife Imelda, son Edgar, his grandson Noel, his sister Tessie, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. Funeral Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomorrow, Saturday, February 2, at 9.15am, at St Augustine church, Tarxien, followed by private interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MAGRO. On January 31, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH, passed away peacefully at the age of 76. He will always be loved and remembered by his wife Marlene, his daughter Michelle and her husband Paul and young David, his son Mark, his siblings Pia, Grazio and his wife Annie, Ċettina, Charles and his wife Grace, Lilian and her husband Frank, Mario and his wife Ritchie, Giovanni and his wife Marlene, Antoinette, Paul and his wife Susan, his brothers-in-law Tony, widower of his sister Cora, and Victor and his wife Ċettina, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, February 2, at 8am, for Żabbar parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by private interment in the family grave at Żabbar cemetery. May he rest in peace.

MANCHE. On January 29, JOSEPH, passed away peacefully at the age of 77, surrounded by his family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Mary, his son Gordon, daughter Sharon and his beloved grandchild Mia, his sister Doris, wife of William Spiteri, brother Lawrence and his wife Monica, brother-in-law Victor Chetcuti and his wife Marlene, sisters-in-law Jessie Seychell and Therese Chetcuti, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Friday, February 1, at 1pm, for Sacro Cuor Sanctuary, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by private interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MICALLEF. On January 31, at Mater Dei Hospital, CONNIE, widow of Lino, aged 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved children Henry and his partner Mariella, Marisa, Veronica and her husband Arthur, her grandchildren Noella and her husband Simon, Luke, Ema, Jessica, Jacob, Rebecca and Angelica, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, February 2, at 8.30am, for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9.30am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

POLIDANO. On February 1, at Mater Dei Hospital, VINCENT, widower of Esther, passed away peacefully at the age of 72. He leaves to mourn his loss his brothers Albert his wife Agnes, Mary, widow of his brother Joseph, Tony and his wife Dorothy, Frank and his wife Rosemarie, Michael and his wife Marianne, Charles and his wife Vivienne, Dominic and his partner Josette, and his sisters Doris, wife of Vincent Zahra and Graziella, wife of George Mallia, his nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Monday, February 4, at 8.30am, for Fatima Sanctuary, Guardamangia, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9.30am, followed by private interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, would be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

STRUTHERS. On February 1, ARNOLD, aged 76, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Dolores, his children Sam and his wife Sharon, Amanda and her husband Ian, his grandchildren Phoebe, Jacelyn, Isabella and Max, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday, February 5, at 8am, for Our Lady of Lourdes parish church, San Ġwann, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

In Memoriam

BORG. In loving memory of a dearest mother and grand-mother, COTTINA, today being the sixth anniversary of her passing to eternal life. Fondly remembered by her daughter Angela and her husband Stephen and her son Adrian and his wife Marika. She is also fondly remembered by her grandsons Andrew and Michael. A prayer is kindly solicited.

CAMILLERI EDWARD H. In loving memory of Eddie, today the 21st anniversary of his demise. Gone but never forgotten. Lillian, Adrian and Rose, Sandra, Karen, Alain and Julia and family.
