ATTARD. On March 8, at Dar tal-Kleru, Birkirkara, Mgr EDGAR ATTARD, Cap. S.S., of Paola, aged 85, went to meet the Risen Lord, whom he served in the priesthood for 60 years. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss his brother Frank, residing in Canada, his sister Evelyn, his brother Albert and his wife Artemia, and his sister Mary and her husband Professor Victor Mallia-Milanes, nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends, especially from the parish of Christ the King, Paola, and the parishes of Marsascala, Gudja, Tarxien and St. George, Qormi, where he served as parish priest. The funeral cortège leaves St John the Baptist chapel (Museum chapel – Female Section), St Monica Street, Paola, on Monday, March 11, at 9.30am, accompanied by the Metropolitan Chapter and members of the clergy, for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 10am by Mgr Joseph Galea Curmi, His Lordship Auxiliary Bishop of Malta, followed by interment at Santa maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Kleru will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest. Special thanks go to Il-Qaddejja taċ-Ċenaklu and all the staff at Dar tal-Kleru for their dedication and loving care.

BRIFFA. On Sunday, March 3, in Melbourne, Australia, JOE, an exemplary husband and father, aged 95. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Maria, née Caruana, who never left his side, Sue, widow of his son John, Peter and his wife Diane, his daughters Marlene Ennis, Julie O’Sullivan, Annette Briffa, Michelle and her husband Peter, Vickie and her husband Luke and his sister-in-law Josephine, widow of his brother Gaetan, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In Malta he left his sole surviving brother Michael, and Lina, widow of his brother Frank, his nephews and nieces and grand nephews and nieces. A Mass for the repose of his soul will be said on Sunday, March 17, at 12 noon, at the Ursuline Crèche chapel, Karm Galea Street, Sliema. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

BRINCAT. On March 4, JOSEPH of Birkirkara, who departed peacefully to meet the Risen Lord at the age of 80. He leaves to mourn him in great sadness his sister Mary, widow of Peter Whitley, his brothers Alfred and his wife Mary Rose, née Chase, Fabian and his wife Joyce, née Gafà and Arthur; nieces and nephews together with many close friends, including Josephine Mangion who was always there to help him. The cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Friday, March 15, at 8.45am, for St Theresa Sanctuary, Valley Road, Birkirkara, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9.15am. Interment will follow at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

BUTTIGIEG. On Wednesday, March 6, at Gozo General Hospital, JOSEPH of Nadur, residing in Victoria, Gozo, former teacher, aged 92, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Marita, Alan George and his wife Maria and Rosabelle and her husband George Pavia; his grandchildren Ylenia, Jean-Pierre and his wife Jennifer Peresso, Christiana Buttigieg, JeanPaul and his wife Veronica, Stephanie and her husband Darrell Curmi; Benjamin, Dr Lauren Lee and Katrin Pavia, his six great-grandchildren, his sister Carmen Meilak of USA, his in-laws Mary Mallia, Carmen and Bert Pace; relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Gozo General Hospital tomorrow at 3.30pm for St George’s Basilica, Victoria, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated, followed by interment in the family grave at Sannat cemetery. Any donations to Moviment Missjunarju Ġesù fil-Proxxmu will be greatly appreciated. Kindly remember him in your prayers.

CAMILLERI. On March 4, at Casa Antonia, Balzan, JOSEPHINE, aged 92, passed away peacefully to life everlasting comforted by the rites of Holy Church to be reunited with her dear husband Joe (died 1965) and her beloved grandson Joseph. She leaves to mourn her sad loss her daughter Mary Anne widow of Ray Soler, Therese and her husband Lamberto Sapone, Anthony and his wife Maria Camilleri, Franco and his wife Rosemary Padovani Ginies, her grandchildren Nicky, Kurt, Simona, Ginella, Mark, Andrew, Mara, Hannah, Sophie and their respective spouses, her nine great-grandchildren, her beloved sister Maria Camilleri and her sister-in-law Annie Borg, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral will take place at 1.30pm today, Friday, March 8, at the Divine Mercy Sanctuary, San Pawl tat-Tarġa, Naxxar, where Mass will be celebrated, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest. The family would like to express their appreciation to the management, staff and nurses of Casa Antonia for the sterling work and loving care given to her for these past few years.

D’AMATO. On March 7, at Mater Dei Hospital, Sr BENIGN, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her sad loss the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition, her brother Joseph and his wife Josephine, her sister Eva of Canada, widow of Charles Abdilla, her sister Gemma and her husband Salvu Portelli, her brother Tony and his wife Irene, her sister Bice and her husband Charles Degabriele, her nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated today, Friday, March 8, at 2pm, at St Joseph Convent, St Dominic Square, Rabat, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Sagra Familja, Żabbar, or Rest House, Rabat, will be greatly appreciated. 

DE GAETANO. On February 28, at Mater Dei Hospital, ROSE MARIE, née Delia, widow of George De Gaetano, aged 88, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved children, Johanna and her husband Alfred Pace, Edward and Daniela, Roger and his wife Gillian, her sisters, Cynthia, widow of Lawrence, Frieda and Olaf, her brother Lino and his wife Christine, Olivia, widow of George, her brother-in-law Vincent and his wife Cecilia, her precious grandchildren Alexia and David, Krista and her husband Andrew, Karen and her husband Carl, George and his partner Joanne, Ann and her husband Reginald, Nicholas, Sandra, and her treasured great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, March 9, at 8.30am for the Immaculate Conception parish church, Tal-Ibraġ, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. FENECH. On March 6, at her residence, ANGELE of Naxxar, residing at Balzan, aged 85, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Carmelo, her son Hector and his partner Patricia, her daughter Marthese and her husband Herman Cini, her grandchildren Justin and Kristina, her sister Mary, widow of Saviour Portelli, her cousin Canon Paul Gauci, in-laws and their families, her carer Linda, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Friday, March 8, at 3pm, for the Nativity of the Virgin Mary parish church, Naxxar, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Mosta cemetery. MERCIECA. On March 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANTHONY of Ħamrun, residing in St Paul’s Bay, aged 84, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Carmelina, his children Rityanne and her husband Albert, Charmaine and her husband Joseph, Maria, widow of his son Spiridione, his grandchildren Amanda and her husband Robert, Deandra and her husband Michael, Sean, Christa Marie and her fiancé Gilmore, Jasmine Marie, Francesca Marie, his great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, his in-laws and their respective families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Saturday, March 9, at 7am, for Maria Addolorata parish church, St Paul’s Bay, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. A Mass will be said for the repose of the soul and in memory of the late Judge MAURICE CARUANA CURRAN on Saturday, March 9, at 10am at St Francis church, Republic Street, Valletta, on the fourth anniversary of his passing.
