Hollywood star Angelina Jolie could be returning to Malta later on this year, if she takes on a role in remake Murder on the Orient Express to be filmed in London and Malta, the Hollywood Reporter said this morning.

If the deal is finalised, Ms Jolie would play the role of Mrs. Harriet Hubbard in the adaptation based on the Agatha Christie’s classic mystery.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, shooting for the film, that has been in the works for a number of years, is scheduled to start in London some time in November and then move to Malta at a later stage.

The film’s plot centres on special detective Hercule Poirot, who boards a train from Jerusalem to Europe only to have a murder committed in the car next to his during a snowstorm. He then tries to expose the murderer or murderers before there's another victim.

In 2014, Jolie and husband Brad Pitt chose Gozo’s Mgarr ix-Xini as the primary location for their film By the Sea, directed by the actress herself.
