Hollywood superstars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have just left Malta after a 36-hour stop to scout for locations for a film they will produce later this year.

The two were mainly in Gozo, scouting the bays on the sister island, Times of Malta has learnt.

They were also seen on a tour of the coastline on a yacht.

Sources said the pair have shortlisted Malta as one of a handful of countries where to shoot their film, which is slated to start at the end of summer.

They were last here in 2011 when Pitt was busy with the shooting of World War Z. While in Malta Jolie promoted refugee causes as a UNHCR ambassador.

Pitt was also in Malta in 2003 for the filming of the epic Troy in which he played Achilles.
