I would like to enlighten The Times’ readers, who I know are numerous, about the conditions our soldiers are currently working under.

I can understand that a soldier is always a soldier but, especially during this time, they should be given greater appreciation.

A very good number of them are being made to work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day including Saturdays and Sundays. They are getting very depressed and tired. To make matters worse they will not be paid for all the extra hours they are working or compensated with time off in lieu like other government employees. They are all on stop leave.

They are not made of iron or steel but of flesh and blood like everyone else. Apart from that they all have families whom they want to go home to.

Their life starts and ends with the army. Where are their human rights?

I would like to have an answer from someone who is versed in the subject.
