Richard Cachia Caruana, Malta's Permanent Representative to the European Union, was yesterday involved in a minor traffic accident involving the unmarked vehicle of his police escort and two civilian cars. No one was injured in what the police described as a bumper-to-bumper incident.

The accident occurred in heavy traffic on the Regional Road near the Sta Venera tunnels.

Mr Cachia Caruana has had a police escort ever since he was stabbed in Mdina 13 years ago. At the time he was personal assistant to then Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami.
