France's Jean-Baptiste Grange kept his nerve to win a men's World Cup slalom today after a number of podium hopefuls crashed out.

Grange led after the first leg and won the second run to manage an overall time of one minute 36.12, 0.74 seconds ahead of Germany's Felix Neureuther with American Ted Ligety in third. Benjamin Raich and Bode Miller skied out in the first leg while seven competitors failed to finish in a tough second run including several podium contenders.

Former World Cup slalom champion Giorgio Rocca made his comeback on home snow but finished 17th as he continues to recover from knee surgery, with his compatriots also disappointing the Italian crowd.
