Fernando led team mate Felipe Massa in a Ferrari 1-2 victory at the Bahrain grand prix this afternoon. Mclaren's Lewis Hamilton came third.

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel started from pole and led for much of the race before a technical problem slowed him down, but he managed to come in fourth, just ahead of the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg.

Michael Schumacher was sixth and reigning champion Jenson Button was seventh.

This was Alonso's first race with Ferrari. He started from third but managed to overtake Massa, who was second, at the start.
