Fernando Alonso and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes triumphed at Sepang on Sunday with temperatures soaring to a maximum of 50 degress. Shouldering the Spaniard was rookie Lewis Hamilton with Ferrari trailing by a bunch of seconds with the Finn taking the third place on the podium.
It was an excellent result from McLaren after their 2-3 in Australia, clearly showing that the team led by Ron Dennis seems to be heading on the right direction following the disappointment of last year, when the team did not win a single race.
Pity for Nico Rosberg who had to retire with an engine problem. Towards the end of the race both Ferraris seem to be the best on hard compound tyres.
The final result was 1.Alonso 2.Hamilton 3.Raikkonen 4. Heidfeld 5.Massa 6. Fischella 7. Trulli 8. Kovalainen
