Almost 35,000 bottles of alcoholic beverage on which no duty was paid was intercepted by the Customs Department.

A total of 2,634 liquer bottles, 2,280 bottles of vermouth, 2,616 bottles of vodka, 552 bottles of whisky and 26,661 wine bottles were intercepted from a garage in Blata l-Bajda.

The department is also inspecting a large quantity of energy drinks, ice tea and water found in the same garage.

In another case, the department also intercepted 321 hampers containing alcohol on which no excise duty was paid.

The police are investigating.
