With two more days to be played, the first division title race is still wide open. The remaining games will take place over the next two Sundays.
First Division
All Ages E'change 41
Kerygma 'A' 18
This match was completely one-sided as the score indicates. All Ages are strong title contenders and gave a clear indication of their intentions to challenge for the honours.
The first quarter ended 9-3 in All Ages' favour. They kept increasing their score consistently with Kerygma only managing two shots in the second quarter compared to their opponents' 14.
Notwithstanding a number of substitutions by Kerygma, they did not manage to keep up with All Ages who topped the third session 13-4.
In the final quarter, All Ages failed to keep the pace going. Kerygma took their chances well here to score four times more 9-5. At that stage, however, the match was already lost for them as All Ages obtained another two useful points.
Umpires: Odette Camilleri and Mary Rose Abdilla.
Second Division
Mellieha 20
New Ages 24
Compared to the corresponding first-round fixture, this was indeed a balanced match. New Ages won that encounter 40-18, but this time Mellieha played better.
Their marked improvement made New Ages fight for every shot. In fact, by the end of the third quarter, both teams were neck and neck with the score tied at 17-17.
In the final quarter, New Ages took a slight edge and opened a minimal lead over Mellieha. They preserved that advantage till the end to move closer to a runner-up spot behind champions Wolverines.
Umpires: Sandra Farrugia and Jennifer Mangani.
