A series of informative bus tours providing the public with an opportunity to witness how EU funds are being used in Malta were launched by the European Commission representation today.

Over the next three months, a bus purposely wrapped with pictures from the various locations to be visited, will visit a number of sites that received EU funding in Malta and Gozo.

The aim is to show-case the benefits drawn from the funds, the impact these projects have on society, and their contribution to economic growth.

These tours, entitled X'Tarabank – Destinazzjoni Ewropea, will follow seven itineraries and visit a wide variety of sites, from projects focused on the restoration and maintenance of historical buildings, such as Fort St Elmo and the Gozo Citadel, to the development of educational facilities at the Esplora Interactive Science Park, and the building of infrastructural projects, such as the National Flood Relief Project.

The overarching objective is to improve the quality of life of citizens and preserve and restore historical sites which form part of Europe's cultural heritage. The tours are aimed to increase awareness among locals about how EU funds have been spent in Malta.

A questionnaire is distributed at the end of each visit, asking participants' opinion regarding the financed project, as well as the tour itself.

The schedule of upcoming tours, which are at no change can be found here.

Booking can be made on tel: 9909 9876. The visits are being organised with the collaboration of Heritage Malta and the Planning and Priorities Co-ordination Division in the European Affairs Ministry.
