Albania beat Malta 3-0 in a Group One World Cup qualifier in Tirana this evening.

The Maltese team’s performance was a vast improvement on last Saturday's outing, when it crashed 0-4 to Portugal at home.

Although Albania played marginally better, the Maltese could claim superiority for parts of the game.

Erion Bogdani opened the score for Albania on the stroke of half-time.

Mifsud almost scored a draw in the 82nd minute but his shot was blocked. Cleavon Frendo tried again from a rebound, but shot wide.

Two minutes later Albania scored their second thanks to Klodian Duro and Armend Dallku made it an undeserved three in the 90th minute.

Referee: Robert Schoergenhofer (Austria).
