Malta International Airport has heightened its security procedures in line with international protocol following global reports of increased threats to airports.

It said in a statement this morning that although there is no specific threat to Malta, it was committed to prioritising passenger safety and would be implementing all necessary actions on an ongoing basis.

These measures should not alarm or cause any inconvenience to passengers, it said, adding it would keep the public informed on any developments.
