Air Malta workers met with Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis today to discuss issues and concerns related to a tentative deal for Alitalia to buy a 49 per cent stake in the national airline.

Workers were given a presentation about the memorandum of understanding signed between the Government and Alitalia, Air Malta's current situation and the Government's long-term vision for the airline by Air Malta chairperson Maria Micallef.

Air Malta management all attended the meeting.

Dr Zammit Lewis said he was pleased that the meeting went off without a hitch, with workers asking questions and sharing their thoughts.

More meetings have been scheduled for the weeks to come.
