Air Malta will start flying to Venice’s Marco Polo Airport three times a week as from June 2.
The flights will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Air Malta's country manager for Italy Edwin Caruana said that the airline's decision to start operations from/to Venice Marco Polo Airport with a thrice-weekly frequency demonstrated its continued commitment towards the Maltese and Italian markets.
"We are very confident that we will attain our projections of carrying 13,000 passengers on the route and this augurs well for the future growth of the Venice route,” he said
Malta Tourism Authority's marketing director for southern Europe Simon Kamsky said the route augurs well for the continued growth in tourism from Veneto as well as the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
He noted that more than 230,000 Italians visited Malta last year.
