I refer to the letter by Edgar Gatt entitled Air Malta’s Special Offers “All Taken Up” (February 22). Late in the week before last, Air Malta announced a sale on a number of seats to selected destinations. Two of the conditions attached to the special offer were that these tickets had to be booked and ticketed on two specific days and were subject to availability. The airline put these seats available for sale between 12.01 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, and 11.59 p.m. on Sunday, February 20.

We would like to assure Mr Gatt that a substantial number of seats were available on special offer during that weekend. In fact, the airline sold over 1,800 seats on special offers during the weekend in question.

These offers were obviously open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
