Air Malta saw its passenger numbers grow by more than a third last month compared to February last year.

Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi said on Monday that passenger numbers were up  34.6% in February over the same month in 2017.

The national airline has adopted an aggressive growth strategy, establishing new routes and reducing ticket prices. It is also revamping work practices,

The airline introduced a new range of prices under the Go-Light brand at the end of September.

A new aircraft - its tenth- will be added to the fleet in a few weeks' time.

The airline is hoping to achieve break-even in the financial year which ends this month after several years of losses.
