Air Malta has reached a code-sharing agreement with Italian airline Meridiana, allowing the airlines to show both airline codes on flights operated between Malta and Catania, and an opportunity for Meridiana to offer flights from Reggio Calabria to Olbia and Cagliari, with a stopover in Rome Fiumicino. The flight from Reggio to Rome will be operated by Air Malta while the onward connection will be operated by Meridiana.

Air Malta said the airlines were now in a position to offer their clients flights connecting Malta to Bologna and Turin, via Catania and to Cagliari and Olbia via Rome Fiumicino.

Joe Cappello, Chief Executive of Air Malta said the agreement gave give Air Malta the opportunity to offer daily connectivity to popular Italian cities, whilst developing new catchment areas for inbound tourism from Italy.
