Air Malta has appointed Joseph Galea as its new acting CEO as the two-year term of present incumbent Philip Micallef draws to a close.
Mr Galea served as the airline's deputy chief commercial officer for the past two years, after a long stint with the Malta Tourism Authority as its director of international marketing in Germany.
"It is both an honour and a challenge to take over temporarily the position of CEO as talks with the strategic partner are concluded," Mr Galea said.
Outgoing CEO Mr Micallef described his two-year term as "very challenging and interesting" and said the airline was now "entering a new and exciting phase of growth." He praised his successor as "a person who knows the market and its players extremely well".
Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis and Air Malta chairperson Maria Micallef thanked Mr Micallef for his hard work and wished Mr Galea all the best for his new role.
