Air Malta flights are operating as normal, despite the industrial action ordered, the airline said this afternoon.

It said in a statement that as a result of the industrial action issued yesterday by the Association of Operations Controllers, the work usually handled by the airline's operations control centre was now being outsourced to a service provider.

The airline said that conciliation meetings with the union were held this morning and although these were inconclusive, Air Malta and the government would remain open to further discussions with the aim of finding a solution to this issue.

Air Malta said it would continue to do its utmost to guarantee the best possible service and least possible inconvenience to its clients.

In a separate statement, the Malta Employers’ Association condemned the industrial action which it said went against the provisions of the relevant legislation.
