Air Malta’s chief executive Peter Davies, has been appointed on the board of governors of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the trade association for the world’s airlines which represents some 240 airlines from 118 countries and represents 84 per cent of world air traffic.

This is a first time that an Air Malta chief executive has been appointed to such a position within this association.

IATA’s board of governors is made up of a select-few airline bosses representing different parts of the world.

Commenting on this appointment Mr Davies said:

“It is an honour for me and for Air Malta to be appointed to this board. The aviation industry is ever changing and a lot has been done in recent years to modernise and optimise global aviation and make it more efficient. Clearly we must keep up with the changes and challenges of this changing environment and I look forward to work with fellow board members to support the many areas of aviation activity and help formulate industry policies on critical aviation issues.”
