Air Malta and the Union of Cabin Crew this afternoon had a 'cordial' meeting and agreed to hold further meetings, the company said, without saying what was discussed.

Times of Malta revealed on Thursday that the union had ordered its members not to sell food and snacks on board flights.

The dispute erupted after Air Malta decided that economy class passengers would only be served a baguette and half a litre of water on flights - and the same would be served to cabin crew.

Passengers would have the option to buy hot snacks and beverages.

The union protested that the decision breached a condition of the collective agreement that crews had to be offered 'suitable meals'.
