Air Malta’s ‘Crazy Monday’ promotion resulted in the highest number of web bookings received in one day since 2002, when online sales began, the airline said yesterday.

“We are delighted with the response this offer generated. Our online bookings increased five-fold over last Monday and we sold over 7,000 seats at this price,” said chief commercial officer Ursula Silling.

The airline said the promotional fare of €44, including a one-way flight and a 20kg luggage allowance, was lower than some other airlines’ baggage fees alone.

The three most booked destinations were London, Moscow and Vienna.

“We will continue to launch attractive offers in the market. Through this offer we are reconfirming our position as the best value carrier on the market,” said Ms Silling.
