The airline said it has operated KM612/3 to Rome Fiumicino, KM696/7 to Tripoli and KM1308/1408 to Catania without the Catania-Munich sector. All other flights have been cancelled.
Air Malta will be operating more extra relief flights tomorrow over and above its normal schedule subject to the lifting of airspace restrictions and flight slots confirmed. These flights will be communicated as soon as slots were confirmed.
Airlines, including Air Malta, had to cancel most of their flights to Europe because of volcanic ash cloud extending from Iceland, to the UK, Scandinavia and moving down to central Europe including parts of Russia.
Due to this cloud, parts of European airspace have been shut down.
Air Malta is closely monitoring the situation and will advise its passengers of any changes in its flight operations as a result of these airspace restrictions on www.airmalta.com .
Air Malta is offering passengers free re-booking on any Air Malta operated scheduled flight or full refund of ticket. For any re-booking or re-routing enquiries clients can contact Air Malta’s International Call Centre on +356 2166 2211. The call centre will remain open until midnight and will open again for business at 0500hrs (local time).
Due to this situation, clients due to travel from Malta International Airport are advised to contact flight enquiries of the airport on tel: 5004 3333 for further information and to confirm flight arrival / departure times.
RYANAIR TO OPERATE TEST FLIGHTS TOMORROW
Ryanair said in a statement this evening that it has extended its cancellation of its northern European flights
(UK, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, Poland, Baltic States and North Italy) to Thursday at 1 p.m.
Southbound flights from Spain, southern Italy, Malta and Morocco will go ahead as scheduled.
Ryanair's Michael O'Leary said the airline hoped to resume all its operations by Friday at 1 p.m. and it had instructed airports that its immediate priority would be to ensure that no seat operated empty, while there were backlogs of disrupted passengers wishing to travel.
"Accordingly Ryanair will be operating extra flights on those routes where we believe there are significant numbers of disrupted passengers.
"Ryanair will also be suspending all airport check-in and baggage fees during the initial days so that our handling agents can prioritise getting flights out on time and processing standby passenger lists.
"Similarly, while we will consider all passenger requests for reimbursement of reasonable receipted expenses over the past week, any such reimbursement will be limited to the original air fare paid by each passenger."
Ryanair said it hoped to operate a number of test flights across Europe late tomorrow to verify and satisfy itself that it was safe to resume flight operations in Northern Europe on Thursday.
